Veterinarian
Dr. Ambrielle McClanahan was born in Pocatello, Idaho, but primarily raised in the mountains of Everson, Washington. Her family moved to Denham Springs, Louisiana where she attended Denham Springs High School. Cats have been the center of her life since she was a toddler.
In 2020, Dr. Ambrielle completed her undergraduate studies at Louisiana Tech University obtaining a Bachelors in Animal Science, Pre-Veterinary Concentration, and Minor in Biology. During this she was involved the marching and wind symphonic ensemble as a clarinetist. In addition to a love for felines, horses have a special place in her heart. She completed a rigorous 6 month Kentucky Equine Management Internship prior to graduation at Lanes End Farm in Versailles, Kentucky. You may have seen her during this period as she worked as a receptionist and veterinary technician with Dodge City Animal Hospital for 5 years.
Since 2021, she has lived in Opelika, AL with her husband and twins where she obtained a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2024. During her studies, she attended electives specific for feline medicine and paid particular attention to topics taught for the feline species. Cat Care Center captured her heart early in her career when she brought her own cat for care as a first year veterinary student. She (and her cat) fell in love with the feline friendly tactics, staff, and clinic. Following graduation, she immediately started practicing at two mixed animal practices, but feline medicine remained in the center of her passions. Her husband was blessed with a job opportunity which brought them back to Baton Rouge and closer to family.
Dr. Ambrielle is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Feline Veterinary Medical Association, as well as the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM). She holds certificates for Cat Friendly Veterinarian and Fear Free. Currently, she is pursuing certificates for Veterinary Acupuncture with Chi University and the Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional certificate with ISFM. Her professional goals include obtaining a Board Certification in Feline Medicine and integrating holistic, Eastern Medicine modalities to provide the best medicine for cats and clients.
She enjoys her time away from the clinic with her husband, 2-year-old twins, and three cats. Dr. Ambrielle is an avid runner, participating in community runs and a workout fanatic with Regymen Fitness.
