Cat Care Center is proud to participate in a new clinical study evaluating a potential treatment for feline heart failure! This investigational medication is designed to help manage cats living with heart disease. The study will provide veterinary cardiology care at no cost to eligible participants, including:
- Comprehensive cardiology exams
- Echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds)
- Electrocardiograms (heart rhythm evaluations)
- Chest x-rays
- Bloodwork & urinalysis
- Study medication or placebo
Is Your Cat Eligible?
Your cat may qualify for the study if they meet these criteria:
- Experienced their first congestive heart failure (CHF) episode within the last 60 days
- Diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
- At least 12 months old and at least 4.4 lbs (2 kg)
- Clinically stable at the time of enrollment (no current fluid in chest or lungs)
- Not diabetic or receiving insulin
- Not pregnant, nursing, or intended for breeding
If you’re unsure, Dr. Lacie can evaluate your cat to determine whether they may be a candidate.
We know how much you love your cats, and we understand that not every cat will meet the study’s strict criteria - this is the hardest part for us, too. These guidelines are essential to ensure meaningful results. If your cat isn’t eligible, we’re still here to support you in their heart health journey in any way that we can.
How Does It Work?
Cats in the study will receive either the investigational medication or a placebo (a liquid that looks the same but contains no medication).
Cat owners will be asked to administer a once-daily liquid dose at home.
All diagnostic tests and treatments required by the study are provided completely free of charge.
Why Participate?
By enrolling in this study, your cat will receive FREE expert cardiology care with Dr. Lacie Lee while helping advance research that could lead to lifesaving treatments for future generations of cats!
